Attorney Richard Junnier offers a rare combination of international legal education, global field experience, and high-level legal scholarship that uniquely positions him to analyze and write on international law, human rights, and transnational policy issues.
He has studied, researched, or conducted legal work on three continents and has traveled through dozens of countries, including several conflict zones and revolutions—experiences that inform a practical, real-world understanding of the international legal issues he addresses.
His advanced legal training includes two post-doctoral LL.M. degrees focused on international law: an LL.M. from NYU School of Law in Global Economy and Human Rights and an LL.M. from the National University of Singapore in International and Comparative Law, in addition to specialized study at Erasmus Law School in the Netherlands in Transnational Organized Crime among other subjects. He studied under former INTERPOL Secretary General Ron Noble and South Africa Truth and Reconciliation Commission Executive Secretary Paul Van Zyl. He has worked as a research assistant to leading international law scholars Fernando Tesón (humanitarian intervention) and Simon Chesterman (counterintelligence regulation).
Attorney Junnier’s scholarship and editorial experience further distinguish his qualifications. He has published peer-reviewed legal scholarship on contemporary international and human rights issues—including the legal implications of privacy rights, the conflict in Gaza, the defunding of USAID and foreign assistance, and immigration and refugee law—in respected legal publications such as the International Law Quarterly and, as a student, the Florida State University Law Review. He has also served on the Editorial Board of the Florida Bar Journal and as an Article Selection Editor and Associate Editor for the Florida State University Law Review, reflecting recognition of his legal writing and analytical abilities by the profession itself.
Professionally, Attorney Junnier has collaborated with the U.S. Department of State on international Hague Convention child abduction matters, served on the War Crimes Committee of the International Bar Association, and currently serves on The Florida Bar’s Florida Foreign Legal Consultant Committee. Through these experiences, he has developed an extensive international network of legal, governmental, and professional relationships across developed and emerging jurisdictions.
Taken together, Attorney Junnier’s academic credentials, international research background, editorial leadership, and publication history provide an exceptional foundation for authoritative commentary on international law, human rights, and global legal affairs.
